JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Jonesboro police say a woman upset because her daughter refused to participate in Bible study beat her with an electrical cord and then stabbed her.
Officers arrested Lasonia L. Tucker, 41, on suspicion of aggravated assault Sunday at a home in the 3300-block of Meador.
Tucker told police she and her children “normally have a Bible reading on Sunday.”
When her 18-year-old daughter refused to cooperate, and “mumbled” her verses, Tucker said she became angry and “grabbed an extension cord and began whipping” her daughter.
Tucker said her daughter grabbed the cord and refused to let it go.
According to the report, Tucker took a 4-inch serrated steak knife from a butcher block and held it out toward her daughter to make her drop the cord.
Tucker told police she “moved forward” and the knife “accidentally struck the top of [her daughter’s] right hand.”
Tucker washed off the knife and placed it into the sink, the report stated.
An ambulance crew called to the scene said the injuries were “minor and did not require anything more than Band-Aids.”
Police arrested Tucker and took her to the Craighead County Detention Center to await a probable cause hearing.
She was issued a $5,000 temporary bond and a no-contact order was completed.
