A Man Is Accused of Killing His Younger Brother Over Sneakers
SPRINGFIELD – The older brother of a teenager killed inside his home on South 23rd Street on Thursday has been charged with first-degree murder.
Juan Kincade, 18, of the 3000 block of Taylor Avenue, was arrested Sunday and has been charged by Sangamon County State’s Attorney John Milhiser with first-degree murder and theft.
Police believe Juan Kincade shot his younger brother, Juwan Kincade, 17, in the head and stole cash and 12 pairs of shoes.
Their mother found Juwan dead in the living room of their home in the 800 block of South 23rd Street around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Sangamon County Coroner Cinda Edwards said Juwan Kincade died from a gunshot wound to the head consistent with a homicide.
Milhiser said Tuesday he could not discuss motive or any other specifics in the case. Authorities believe the total value of the shoes and cash is more than $500.
Juan Kincade is scheduled to make his first appearance in court at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
