Born Into The Trap is the road map of Steve Lajoie. Born in East Harlem, he moved to the west side of Harlem at the age of five. He revisits his past and reflects on both the actions and inaction’s which facilitated his ascension from the “Trap” while growing up during the crack era of the late 1980’s through the early 2000’s. This memoir magnifies life growing up in the ghettos of America and the often extreme ingenuity required to evade the unlimited pitfalls and trap doors designed to maintain the status quo of pain, poverty, and suffering. Although we all have our own paths to follow in life, perhaps Born Into The Trap can serve as road map to the youth in the ghettos of America who are seeking an unobstructed path out of the unequal circumstances they were born into.
