A man was fatally shot while broadcasting live on Facebook in the North Lawndale neighborhood Wednesday night.
About 8:45 p.m., 28-year-old Antonio Perkins was found facedown with gunshot wounds to the neck and head in a vacant lot in the 1600 block of South Drake, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Perkins was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:07 p.m., authorities said.
Roughly six minutes into the livestream, gunshots are audible in the background and the camera falls to the ground while people can be heard screaming. The live stream went on for another 30 minutes before it ended.
According to police, Perkins was a documented gang member, however, his father said he was not involved with any gangs and had recently gotten a job at McDonald’s.
Perkins was the father of three children ages 8, 6 and 2.
