Father Michael Pfleger is the pastor for St. Sabina Catholic Church on the South Side of Chicago. He is known for his activism in fighting against the violence that occurs in Chicago. In a recent interview, he discussed how it’s gotten worse this year He stated, “this year is through the roof. The numbers are shameful. They should be embarrassing to us and they should make us outraged. You have more guns now than we have ever had. America, whether we want to admit it or not, has made them part of our wardrobe.” In 2016 alone, there have been 11 murders in the City of Chicago. This number is so close to Chicago’s deadliest year 1997 when 761 people were killed.
