I had a chance today to ask the NYPD’s top detective, Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce, where they were in their investigation of the murder of Lionel “Chinx” Pickens.
Chief Boyce says they are looking into the possible connection between a double murder in Mount Vernon last week and the murder of Chinx.
Early last Wednesday morning, (6/24/15) 26 year old Kevin Shaw, a former Concordia College Asst Basketball Coach was shot and killed in a BMW convertible along with 27 year old music producer Allashun Clay.
Mount Vernon Police say they were targeted and shot, and then the car flipped over.
NYPD Chief Boyce says they don’t know yet if there’s a connection, but they have sent city detectives to work the case along with the Mount Vernon PD.
Boyce also says they are getting a lot of tips on the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline (1-800-577-TIPS) and they are going through all of them. He says they still have a lot of work to do to solve the case, but it’s clear they are on it.
