PHOENIX –Dramatic surveillance video captured an inmate on the attack at a Phoenix jail.
Maricopa County officials say an 18-year-old psych inmate went after officers on Wednesday and knocked one of them unconscious. In all, four detention officers were hurt.
The sheriff says the inmate crossed into an area of the jail pod where he was not supposed to be and was ordered back to his cell. At that point, authorities say the inmate turned on the officers.
The 44-year-old officer who was knocked unconscious remains in the neurological unit at the hospital with a brain bleed.
The inmate faces a new assault charge.
