Muskogee police release video of officer using pepper spray on 84-year-old woman
MUSKOGEE, Okla.– Footage from police body cameras show officers pepper spraying 84-year-old Geneva Smith.
Authorities were chasing Smith’s son who ran from a traffic stop. He went through a stop sign, initially refused to stop his vehicle, then fled the scene, running to his mother’s house.
Footage also shows Smith’s son being tased by officers after failing to comply with the officers’ orders to come out and walk to them.
Police say they released the footage to be transparent about the situation and to continue to foster and develop the relationship between law enforcement and the community.
Officers involved are being interviewed and the situation is being investigated before any decision is made on a resolution.
