This week, police in Manchester, England, seized over $2,000,000 worth of counterfeit goods. The raid uncovered clothing, handbags, and jewelry from 14 shops in the Strangeways area. The products were counterfeit clothing and shoes from Nike, Emporio Armani and Ugg, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Counterfeit is a major problem in the area, and the Strangeways district is one of the biggest suppliers in the UK. The recent discovery was a result of “Operation Rogue Trader,” a multi-agency mission to end the illegal activity, which Sgt. Darren Thomason says has “a far reaching impact on many facets of people’s lives.”
A similar raid carried out last year, uncovered over $9 million in fake designer goods.
