A former city correction officer admitted to sexually assaulting an inmate in a storage closet on Rikers Island but will not serve time under a plea agreement.
Jose Cosme, 36, of Brooklyn, pleaded guilty Thursday to a criminal sex act. As part of the deal, he will be placed on probation for 10 years, was fired from his job and is required to register as a sex offender, officials said.
The correction officer ambushed inmate Jacqueline Healy, 49, inside a closet hidden from cameras at 9:10 p.m. on Nov. 30, 2015.
During the assault, Cosme had a blank look on his face “like he wasn’t there,” Healy told the Daily News, which first reported the attack.
