Transportation Security Administration officials seized nearly 6,000 firearms at airport checkpoints in 2021, nationwide-the highest total on record.

An alarmingly high number of those weapons were loaded.

The House Homeland Security Subcommittee examined the issue, with testimony from the leaders of some of the nation’s busiest airports on Tuesday.
