Former rap impresario Marion “Suge” Knight remained hospitalized in police custody Wednesday after pleading not guilty to murder a day earlier, officials said.
“He’s still in a local hospital. He’s seeking medical treatment,” Nicole Nishida, a spokeswoman with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The hulking hip hop legend was rushed to the undisclosed hospital by ambulance around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday due to purported chest pains.
Shortly before the medical emergency, he appeared in a courtroom in Compton, Calif., wearing an orange jail uniform and pleaded not guilty to murder and attempted murder charges connected to a fatal hit-and-run last Thursday.
Authorities say Knight, 49, ran over two men with his truck in the parking lot of a hamburger stand, killing local businessman and married dad Terry Carter, 55.
Carter’s daughter Crystal Carter, 28, said Friday that she wants “justice” in the case.
