Teenage Girl Fatally Shot In The Face In Bronx Apartment

NEW YORK — A teenage girl was found shot to death Thursday evening in the Claremont section of the Bronx.

Around 6:15 p.m., police were called to the building at 363 E. 171st St., just west of Claremont Park, for a report of a shooting.

They found the 16-year-old girl with a gunshot to the face on the fourth floor of the building, sources said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were several people in the apartment at the time, and many had different stories about what happened, sources said.

Police late Thursday were unable to find the gun, which appeared to be missing from the apartment, sources said.

It was not clear whether the gunshot was self-inflicted or if the girl was a homicide victim, sources said.
