Wonder Woman is making quite the splash at the box office, with the first headlining film for the Amazon princess performing better in its opening weekend than Marvel Studios’ debut Iron Man movie. Wonder Woman will cross $100 million at the domestic box office by the end of its first three days, perhaps even reaching $101 million. By comparison, Marvel’s Iron Man propelled itself to $98 million in its opening weekend in 2008. It has been nearly a decade since Iron Man opened and these numbers don’t take inflation into account. Also, Iron Man was Robert Downey Jr.’s very first time playing the character of Tony Stark, whereas Gal Gadot was introduced in her role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
